Representatives from Exacompta Clairefontaine were enjoying the festivities once again following another successful evening at the recent 2023 BOSS Awards, as their UK Head of Logistics, Andy Knights, joined the list of winners during the night.
Alongside seven other industry colleagues, Andy was deservedly recognised within the ‘Unsung Hero’ category, which highlights those employees whose crucial work is often performed behind the scenes.
Having been presented the award by comedian and actor Hal Cruttenden, who was hosting the event, Andy commented, “I was truly shocked and honoured once it sunk in. I am not a glory seeker, so don’t go looking for these things. I always just try to do my best for the company and our customers. The fact that others from within the company and, more importantly, from external suppliers, put me up for this award, makes me feel very humble. So I’d like to say a big thank you to all.”
Andy is one of the longest serving members of the UK team, having been with the business since leaving school in 1988. Following several years within the production warehouse, he eventually made the transition to the distribution centre, where he went onto to become Assistant Manager. In 2022, Andy was then promoted to ‘Head of Logistics’ for the company’s UK operations.
He possesses a tremendous ‘can do’ attitude and approaches every challenge head on with a smile on his face.
Since stepping into the role Andy has been instrumental in various improvement initiatives that have substantially reduced the amount of pallet wood waste and material wastage. By managing a more sustainable circular flow of these materials between the company and their suppliers and customers, Andy has ensured that the distribution centre has become much more cost efficient, whilst also reducing its impact on the environment.
Carl Green, Managing Director of transport provider, Ge Be Transport Ltd, stated, “Andy is the absolute salt of the earth and a very valued team player… He just has the natural ability to make sure that both parties, along with the customer, are happy all at the same time… a brilliant talent.”
The range of premium Exacompta Bee Blue stationery products was also featured within the ‘New Product of The Year’ category, as well as Exacompta being highlighted as a finalist for the ‘Sustainability Leadership’ award.
